Manistee Fishing Report – King Salmon and Lake Trout Action Continues
June 25, 2026
Another great morning on the water out of Manistee. We fished straight out from Manistee and north past Onekama, continuing to find a mix of King Salmon and Lake Trout on Lake Michigan.
Storms moved through the night before, and there were a few Kings ready to play on the shelf first thing in the morning.
King Salmon Report
King Salmon were holding in 90–120 feet of water, with most fish being found 25–80 feet down.
Clean spoons and flasher/fly combinations were the best producers. Planer board rods pulling 5 colors, 10 colors, and 300 feet of weighted steel also helped put fish in the boat.
Lake Trout Report
The Lake Trout bite remained consistent, although we struggled a little keeping them pinned on the hooks this morning. That is part of Great Lakes fishing — some days they cooperate perfectly, and other days they find a way to escape.
We used our typical Lake Trout program with:
- Spin Doctors
- Cowbells
- Gambler Rigs
- Spin-N-Glos
The primary producers came from wire divers and downriggers.
Trip Results
All in all, we finished the morning 5 for 15 and came back with some great stories and memories. We had a great crew visiting from Colorado who came out to experience Manistee Lake Michigan fishing.
Captain’s Tip
Every day on Lake Michigan is a little different. Pay attention to water conditions, speed, and where fish are positioned in the water column. Small adjustments can make a big difference when the bite changes.
