Manistee King Salmon Fishing Report – The Kings Are Here

The king salmon are staged well out of Manistee, and the Manistee fishing charters have been finding fish north, south, and straight out from town. Location and exact depth haven’t been nearly as important as being on the shelf during first and last light.
Plugs have been producing well. Both full-size and 4-inch Dreamweaver plugs are getting it done. Start with glow plugs early, then switch to flashier patterns as the sun gets higher. Chrome with a red face has been a good choice later in the morning.
Double Slick paddles paired with Riverside and Pickled Sunshine flies have also been productive. There are a good number of coho mixed in with the kings, adding a little extra variety to the action.
If you’re looking for Lake Michigan fishing charters out of Manistee, this is a good time to get on the water. The kings are here, the plugs are working, and the early-morning bite is worth getting up for.
